Big Utility Change in Louisiana: What Entergy Customers Need to Know About the New Gas Provider

As of July 1, 2025, there’s a new name in town for natural gas service in parts of Louisiana — Delta Utilities.

If you're a customer of Entergy Louisiana or Entergy New Orleans, here's the scoop: Entergy has officially sold its natural gas distribution business to Delta Utilities, a company backed by Bernhard Capital Partners. This change affects customers in East Baton Rouge Parish, New Orleans, and surrounding areas.

But don’t worry —
electric service remains with Entergy. Here's everything you need to know to stay informed and avoid surprises when your bills start coming in.

πŸ”₯ What Changed?

  • Only the gas side of Entergy’s business was sold.

  • Electricity service is still provided by Entergy.

  • The sale officially closed on July 1, 2025.

🧾 Will I Get Two Separate Bills Now?

Yes.

If you previously received a combined gas and electric bill from Entergy, you'll now get two separate bills:

This means your monthly bills will no longer be bundled — gas and electric will be billed independently moving forward.

πŸ› ️ Do I Need to Do Anything?

Mostly no, but here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Your gas service has already been transferred to Delta Utilities automatically — you don’t need to sign up again.

  • However, if you had autopay or paperless billing set up with Entergy, you’ll need to re-enter your payment preferences with Delta Utilities once your first gas bill arrives.

  • You can expect your first gas bill from Delta Utilities sometime this summer.

πŸ” Why the Change?

Entergy is focusing more heavily on electricity generation and delivery. Selling the gas side of its business allows the company to streamline operations and invest more deeply in its core utility offerings.

Delta Utilities, on the other hand, has committed to continuing reliable gas service and investing in infrastructure across the areas it now serves.

🧭 Quick Summary

  • Gas service is now handled by Delta Utilities

  • Electric service remains with Entergy

  • πŸ“¬ You’ll now get two separate utility bills

  • πŸ’³ Be sure to set up payment preferences with Delta Utilities
